The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) has released a video that highlights the vital role air conditioning and refrigeration technicians play in the fight against climate change.
To celebrate World Refrigeration Day on June 26, the department released the video to match the theme “Temperature matters“. It reveals how many heating and cooling systems contain refrigerant gases that contribute to global warming if released.
The video also explains that only ARCtick licensed technicians can handle these refrigerants, which is why consumers should always seek out a licensed technician to install, maintain or remove a system. The Lookforthetick.com.au website lists all licensed tradespeople.
The Department has also made a version of the video aimed at technicians and businesses, which summarises some of their main obligations and key developments that will impact the trade in the future.
The video celebrates the work that licensed technicians do to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency. It also highlights some of the sectors that depend increasingly on the HVAC&R industry, such as battery thermal management and building sustainability.
