ECS Group is offering customers and industry associates a complimentary trial of the building automation systems (BAS) version of the FIN Framework 5.0 software. The free one-day event is called “Take FIN for a spin” and will be held at The Grand Hyatt Melbourne on March 20.
ECS Group specialises in building automation and controls, mechanical services and energy management. The service-based company is also the parent company for product brands Open General and Spinwave Wireless Systems.
The event is divided into two sessions and includes an overview demonstration in the morning, followed by a more detailed session after lunch. Event organisers are encouraging systems integrators to stay for the afternoon session.
According to the program highlights, attendees will learn the basics of the application suite: alarms, graphics, historian, notes, point graphics, schedules, summaries and O&M (operations and maintenance) manuals. The “mobile-first HTML5 software”, it claims, will work “seamlessly on a tablet, smartphone, or a desktop”.
“In the afternoon session,” ECS Group adds, “we’ll help you load FIN 5.0 on your laptop and show you how to create, engineer, and program a complete project from start to finish.”
FIN 5 is the latest incarnation of FIN Framework, which according to the website of the software’s publisher, J2 Innovations, is a “software suite that provides monitoring, control, scheduling, alarming, visualisation, integration, and analytics capabilities designed for OEM partners to customise and incorporate into their products or systems”. It claims that the new FIN Framework is already being used by system manufacturers involved in BAS, HVAC, lighting, and shading control in buildings.
Version 5.0 purportedly delivers “next-generation BAS” through its new applications server technology. According to the website, updated features include:
- A new database
- System configuration UI
- Additional open APIs to help OEMs and developers further extend the framework
- Improved connector framework “to make it even more open for third-party system and device integration”.
