Have your say on refrigerant recovery

A survey on industry engagement with Refrigerant Reclaim Australia’s takeback and disposal program is seeking input from facilities managers and engineers.

A review of Refrigerant Reclaim Australia’s National Product Stewardship Scheme is looking to understand how the current model is performing and how it can continue to evolve in response to a changing refrigerant landscape and emerging risks.

As part of this process, Nous Group has developed a short survey for system designers and facility managers across the refrigeration and air conditioning sector. It has been designed to capture practical, on-the-ground insight from those working within the sector.

The survey should only take around 10 minutes to complete, and is open until COB Friday, May 22, 2026. All responses are fully anonymous.

Responses will assist RRA to build a clearer picture of how day-to-day practices, incentives and operational realities influence refrigerant use, participation in the scheme, recovery behaviours and environmental outcomes. These insights will sit alongside targeted stakeholder engagement, research and analysis to inform future recommendations.

The stewardship program helps Australia meet its Montreal Protocol obligations and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets through the take back and safe disposal of used and unwanted refrigerant.

The survey is an opportunity to contribute directly to the future of the RRA scheme by sharing your experience of how it operates in practice, helping to support practical, workable approaches to refrigerant recovery and return across the industry.
