The Institute of Refrigeration (IOR) is seeking nominations for the J&E Hall International Gold Medal. The award recognises the most innovative and practical contribution to the fields refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump technology.
The awards looks for outstanding accomplishments, including:
- Practical applications of innovative designs
- Projects that have made an original contribution to the field
- Systems that demonstrate substantial potential and evidence that they will be completed successfully
- Outstanding and significant work in a new or unusual area.
The international award is open to individuals and teams, with a prize of £5,000 (approximately AU$9,750) provided by J&E Hall.
Recent winners have included:
- 2022 – Alexander Cohr Pachai, for developing environmentally responsible solutions for the refrigeration industry
- 2021 – Graeme Maidment, in recognition of his practical achievement in demonstrating innovation in the delivery of low-carbon solutions for the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump sector
- 2019 – David Pearson, for his contribution to the development of a series of heat pump systems that have provided a potential solution to the challenge of delivering cost-effective low-carbon heat to whole communities.
The recipient of the award will be presented with the cash prize and a medal at the IOR annual dinner in London on February 22, 2024. Nominations are open until October 1, 2023.
