Daikin’s new IAQ solution for commercial buildings
Daikin has released a new decentralised fresh air solution called the VKM-VM, which combines heat recovery, humidity control, pre-cooling, heating and filtration in one compact unit.

The product sits within the R-32 VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) product portfolio, and has been designed for commercial applications including offices, retail and hospitality settings. It delivers fresh air treatment with airflow capacities from 500 to 1000 cubic metres per hour and integrates seamlessly with Daikin VRF systems. The unit has an integrated DX coil and humidifier that treats incoming outdoor air to ensure stable indoor temperature and humidity levels.
The company says it also reduces the load on connected heat pump or air conditioning systems. The unit incorporates a paper heat exchanger that recovers thermal energy and moisture from extracted indoor air, then transfers the recovered energy to the incoming fresh air stream. An optional CO2 sensor can be incorporated to support automatic adjustments to air flow rates based on detected CO2 levels.
It also suits retrofit installations, with an inbuilt airflow adjustment function that enables it to operate effectively even if ductwork varies from the original HVAC design.
