Hitachi restructures to focus on HVAC
Hitachi Global is restructuring, with the home appliances business getting new ownership and branding and the HVAC business expanding further into technology integration.

Hitachi Global’s home appliance business, which has operated under the Arcelik Hitachi Home Appliances (AHHA) brand, is changing both hands and brands. Turkish partner, Arcelik, is selling its 60% stake in the home appliance brand to a new entity established by Hitachi in partnership with Nojima Corporation. The transfer of shares is expected to be complete by March 2027.
The AHHA home appliances business has primarily manufactured and sold refrigerators, laundry equipment and vacuum cleaners for the consumer market worldwide, including Australia.
In the media announcement, Hitachi states that the new strategic partnership will see Nojima as the sales and service face of the business while Hitachi focuses on manufacturing technologies and bringing higher-quality products to market. Hitachi Global Life Solutions (GLS) will retain a 19.9% stake in the new consolidated company, which will be part of the Nojima group of enterprises.
Company leadership says the restructure also enables it to devote more attention to its air conditioning business, which it retains full ownership of, within Hitachi’s Urban Solutions & Services Business Unit (USBU).
In collaboration with other USBU-owned divisions, Hitachi Building Systems and Hitachi Power Solutions, the company aims to further strengthen its integrated service offerings for building and facility management, energy management, and cooling through an “HMAX for Buildings” integrated product and technology offering.
“Following the completion of the capital reorganisation, Hitachi GLS will aim to maximise value by centering on its air conditioning business and digital solutions, while also strengthening collaboration with the building systems business and the energy business,” says Noriharu Amiya, Senior Vice President and Executive Officer, Hitachi.
