ASHRAE publishes 2025 fundamentals handbook
The 2025 ASHRAE Handbook – Fundamentals is now available for purchase from the ASHRAE website.

ASHRAE says the handbook includes principles, technical data, and practical guidance that form the foundation of the HVAC&R industry.
The 1,100-page document has been reviewed and updated by ASHRAE’s technical committees and covers topics including thermodynamics, psychrometrics, refrigerants, energy resources, and sustainability.
Key updates
The handbook includes the following chapter highlights:
- Two-phase flow (chapter 5): Expanded research and updated tables
- Climatic design information (chapter 14): Greatly expanded climate data tables, downloadable with the PDF or accessible through the online handbook
- Heat, air, and moisture control (chapters 25–27): Substantial revisions with new examples
- Refrigerant properties (chapter 30): New data and graphs for R448A, R449A, and R454B
- Sustainability (chapter 35): Completely rewritten to reflect current practices and data
- Global climate change (chapter 36): Thoroughly updated to match today’s understanding
- Units and conversions (chapter 40): New examples and clarifications for dual-unit usage.
