PSO to host focus groups at AIRAH Hobart Industry Night
Powering Skills Organisation (PSO) will be attending the upcoming AIRAH Hobart Industry Night to facilitate dedicated focus group sessions with employers and apprentices from the HVAC&R sector.

As the Jobs Skills Council responsible for maintaining and updating the electrotechnology training packages, PSO will be running special sessions at AIRAH’s Hobart Industry Night to get feedback from employers and apprentices on current qualifications.
As the industry continues to evolve with new technologies and emerging skill requirements, these sessions aim to ensure HVAC&R training remains relevant, practical, and aligned with current and future workforce needs.
The details of the sessions are as follows:
- Date: Thursday, March 5, 2026
- Venue: Wrest Point Hotel – Riviera Room
- Time: 3–4.30pm (two 45-minute focus group sessions)
About the focus groups
PSO will be conducting structured focus group sessions to identify and analyse the work functions, tasks, and responsibilities performed across HVAC&R job roles. Insights gathered will help define the skills, knowledge, and capabilities required for competent performance in today’s industry.
This consultation will provide an evidence base to inform the design and refinement of:
- Training products and competency standards
- Apprenticeship pathways
- Future workforce capability requirements.
Both employers and apprentices are encouraged to participate. This input will directly support the ongoing development of industry-aligned training and help address emerging skill and knowledge gaps in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector.
All registrations and expressions of interest are being managed by PSO.
Please contact training@poweringskills.com.au to register your interest or to request further information.
