Line up for IAQAA 2026 Conference announced

The theme of the conference is “To test or not to test”, and across the two days attendees can explore:

• When testing adds clarity – and when it adds confusion
• How to balance rigour with practical constraints
• The role of standards, ethics, and liability in testing decisions
• Real-world examples where testing changed outcomes (and where it didn’t)
• Emerging methodologies reshaping how to measure, interpret, and communicate data.

The speaker line up includes:

• Prof. Lidia Morawska, director of both the ARC Centre for Advanced Building Systems against Airborne Infection Transmission and Queensland University of Technology’s (QUT) International Laboratory for Air Quality and Health
  Morawska will share progress that policy and science are making domestically and internationally, presenting on the topic titled “Indoor Air Quality Measurements: what, why and how?”
• Dr Lisa Coulburn, PhD candidate at QUT
  Coulbourn will discuss the hidden mould in Australian homes that often persists in wall cavities, ceilings and subfloors, creating health and remediation challenges. This presentation will share occupant experiences, professional insights and emerging diagnostic technologies, highlighting why early detection and better industry awareness are essential for consistent, effective mould assessment and remediation.
• Punsara Dharaka, PhD candidate at QUT
  Dharaka’s presentation will evaluate 30 KOALA (Knowing Our Ambient Local Air-quality) low‑cost air quality sensors for PM2.5 monitoring in Brisbane classrooms. After co‑location with reference instruments and humidity‑based data correction, individual calibration factors were developed. The project will deliver validated classroom PM2.5 data across six schools.
• Panel discussion
  An occupational hygienist, claims advocate, restoration professional and a building consultant will discuss the theme of the conference: “To test or not to test”.

Day two of the conference is intended to be a workshop using the Bayesian Model to follow on from a topic started in 2024.
