2025 AIRAH National Awards: Stefan Jensen, L.AIRAH, wins WR Ahern Award
Stefan Jensen, L.AIRAH, has been recognised with the WR Ahern Award at the 2025 AIRAH National Awards for his outstanding technical contribution to the HVAC&R industry through published research.

Over nearly five decades, Stefan has been an influential figure in both the Australian and global natural refrigeration sector. As part owner of Scantec Refrigeration in Queensland, he has been a leading advocate for the continued use and advancement of ammonia-based refrigeration systems, championing their safety, efficiency and long-term viability.
In his award-winning paper, Stefan shares practical, real-world experiences and insights drawn from multiple industrial refrigeration projects using ammonia as a refrigerant. The paper reflects his deep technical knowledge and commitment to advancing best practice through evidence-based engineering.
Stefan’s contribution builds on a distinguished career recognised at the highest level, having received the James Harrison Medal in 2023 – AIRAH’s most prestigious individual honour for lifetime contribution to the HVAC&R profession.
