Danfoss expands AB-QM range with higher nominal flows

Danfoss has redesigned and expanded the AB-QM range of Pressure Independent Control Valves (PICVs) in sizes DN 125–250.

The company says the updated valves offer higher nominal flow rates, a lower differential pressure requirement, and compatibility with smaller actuators.

“We have also added two new Super High Flow models for large-scale HVAC, data centre, and district cooling applications,” says Danfoss.

The higher nominal flow rates have increased across the range from five to 60%, with an average of 30%. The higher rate allows designers to achieve more flow with the same valve size, supporting a more flexible and cost-efficient system design.

There is also a lower differential pressure requirement, meaning the required starting pressure is now 40kPa for standard flow models in sizes DN 125–250 and 60kPa for High Flow models. This can help reduce pump energy demand and may allow smaller pump specifications.

The new valve design also allows the use of actuators with lower force, which makes it compatible with smaller actuators and can reduce installation space and initial investment cost.

Danfoss also says the maximum allowed differential pressure has increased from 600 kPa to 800kPa for all valves.

To support larger projects, Danfoss has released two new Super High Flow (SHF) models: the DN 250 SHF+ and DN 250 SHF.

“These new models help designers handle very high flow requirements while maintaining stable and accurate control,” says Danfoss.
