Daikin’s WELL Platinum first

The new flagship facility in Murrarie, comprising 13,609m² of operational space, will serve Daikin’s Queensland customers with fulfilment and dispatch operations for finished goods and spare parts. It also houses a Daikin Trade Centre, training academy, showroom and Daikin’s Queensland sales office.

The company says the development was built around optimising logistics, sustainability, customer experience and employee well-being. It achieved the Certification under WELL v2TM, the latest version of the WELL Building Standard.

To obtain Platinum level certification, the design, delivery and operational plans address several categories of building performance within the WELL Building Standard: air, water, light, nourishment, movement, thermal comfort, sound, material, mind and community.

“Achieving this high standard reflects our commitment not only to operational excellence but to the health and well-being of everyone who works within our facilities. This project shows that logistics infrastructure doesn’t have to compromise on people-centred design, and we’re proud to set that standard for the industry in the region.”

Specific initiatives that contributed towards the certification and also advanced Daikin’s Park sustainability practices include six electric vehicle charging stations and eight low-emission vehicle parking spaces. The facility also features 1.3MW solar-powered hot water, 380 indoor plants and 40,000L rainwater harvesting tanks and has been designed using Daikin’s energy-efficient Heat Recovery Variable Refrigerant Volume air conditioning system.

The certification process extends beyond design to encompass performance testing against the rating criteria, and a final evaluation carried out by third parties to ensure it met all WELL Core Certified Platinum performance requirements.
