Clean-Air employs bots for HVAC hygiene work

HVAC&R hygiene specialist Clean-Air Australia recently took on a project at a wellness meditation centre nestled in 50 acres of subtropical gardens and bushland on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Due to the solid ceiling architecture and exceptionally long, concealed duct runs, traditional cleaning methods were out of the question. It was the ideal assignment for the company’s new modular robotic platform: Multibot.

The Clean-Air Australia team executed a two-phase strategy. First, they completed a deep mechanical clean of the ductwork to remove all existing debris and contaminants. The Multibot was then deployed to apply a 360-degree coating of specialised sealant to all parts of the ventilation system.

The Multibot is connected to airless equipment and controlled via user interface, HD camera to the console. Inside the ductwork, the robot tracks backward with an extended 360° wand to coat the interior.

“When ceiling access is limited and duct runs are exceptionally long, traditional methods just don’t work,” says Brett Parr-Smith, project manager at Clean-Air Australia. “Multibot gives us the reach and precision we need to get the job done right.”
