The Automotive Air conditioning, Electrical and Cooling Technicians of Australasia (VASA) has slated its Wire & Gas 2020 conference for July 31 to August 2 on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

“With a focus on the opportunities for our industry as vehicle electrification accelerates, Wire & Gas 2020 will be the Asia-Pacific region’s premier event for those working in automotive thermal management and electrical,” VASA says. “It’s an essential date on the calendar for those who want to future-proof their knowledge and skills in ways that can be immediately and profitably applied.”

Wire & Gas 2020 returns to the Marriott Resort Surfers Paradise in Queensland – the location where VASA was founded.

The event kicks off with a cocktail party on the evening of Friday, July 31.

Saturday’s events include a trade show, seminars, panel discussions, and a gala dinner in the evening.

Four training sessions are scheduled for the third and final day of Wire & Gas 2020 before the event concludes.

Saturday’s feature panel session is billed as “a meeting of minds between VASA and its counterparts in North America and Europe to compare notes on how the automotive air conditioning, electrical and thermal management sectors are faring.”

Sunday’s panel session is described as a “scene setter”, bringing together experts and visionaries from the world of automotive electrification, including those involved with the emerging opportunity that is converting existing vehicles to electric drive.

A raft of local experts will appear at Wire & Gas 2020, including VASA vice-president Brett Meads and Diesel Help Australia founder and trainer Clinton Brett.

Among the international experts presenting will be Denmark’s Michael Ingvardsen, who is Technical Training Manager at Nissens Automotive.

Ingvardsen will conduct a practical session on variable-displacement compressors and the importance of considering the chemical composition of products such as UV dye and oil before using them in automotive air conditioning systems.

Another speaker is American Craig Van Batenburg, Founder and Trainer at the Automotive Career Developer Centre.

“Having delivered hybrid vehicle training resources since 2000 before expanding into battery electric vehicles from 2008, US-based hybrid and electric vehicle guru Craig will impart his vast expertise to demystify and prepare Wire & Gas 2020 delegates for the inevitable worldwide shift to electrification,” the conference organisers say.
