ICCC 2024, the eighth IIR International Conference on Sustainability and the Cold Chain, has made its second call for papers.
Scheduled to take place from June 9–11 in Tokyo, the conference is co-hosted by the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIF/IIR); the Sustainable Energy & Environmental Society; the Open Innovation Research Organization (SEES); and Waseda University.
“To establish a truly sustainable cold chain, it is necessary to activate discussion on global food supply chain to achieve energy conservation, GHG reduction, elimination of food loss and waste, (and) guarantee of food safety and quality,” conference organisers say.
“ICCC2024, to be held in Tokyo, will be a good opportunity to bring together researchers and industrialists from all fields of refrigeration to discuss how to promote sustainability on the cold chain.”
Cold chain issues to be covered include process and equipment design; storage, transportation and logistics; modelling and predictive tools; food quality and food safety; food science and food engineering; innovations in retail refrigeration; and cold chain in developing countries.
Sustainability issues to be discussed include low-GWP refrigerants; innovative technologies for carbon neutrality; life-cycle assessment on the food supply chain; advances in commercial refrigeration; and application of renewable energies.
Plenary sessions, workshops and a banquet dinner will also be included as part of the program.
