The German Environment Agency (UBA) is holding an online Green Cooling Summit on October 10–11, 2023. It will explore policy approaches, technology solutions and innovative business models for green cooling along the cold chain.
According to the organisers, green cooling refers to a combination of natural refrigerants that harm neither the ozone layer nor the climate, and highly energy-efficient systems that are ideally powered by renewable energy.
The summit will look at how green cooling solutions can help reduce food waste, improve food security, enhance medical cold chains, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
The organisers say the summit will also feature a diverse range of experts from industry, academia, and government, who will share their insights and experiences on how to promote green cooling solutions along the cold chain.
According to UBA, the summit will explore the latest technologies and best practices that can help make the cold chain more sustainable and climate-friendly, from net-zero emission solutions for transport refrigeration to smart stationary refrigeration solutions.
In addition to a keynote session and panel discussion, attendees will also have the opportunity to network with professionals from across the industry and connect with leading companies that are driving innovation in green cooling technologies.
The event is jointly organised by UBA and GIZ Proklima on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
