WorldSkills Australia is holding its 2023 national championships from August 17–19 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Held every two years, the competition sees the top skills talent from all over the country compete over four days. Across more than 60 skills – including refrigeration and air conditioning – participants will battle it out for medals, and for a chance to compete internationally.
Visitors are welcome to watch, and also to try out a number of skills and trades themselves at the Try’aSkill booths. The goal of the public event is to show people the career pathways available via VET and give them information they need to make informed decisions about their education and career. It’s also an opportunity to talk to employers, training organisations and skills organisations who build opportunities in trades and skills, and to hear from industry leaders and WorldSkills success stories.
“We know that skills and trades are critical for building thriving economies, productive communities and confident young members of society,” says WorldSkills Australia.
“We know that skills excellence opens up career pathways and opportunities for our young people. And we know that skills and trades shape the world around us.”
The organisation has been supporting skills excellence in Australia through the competitions for more than 40 years.
Tickets are free, and provide access to both the WorldSkills Australia National Championships and Skills Show, and the Victorian Careers and Employment Expo.
