Are you up-to-date on flammables?
Industry representatives are hosting a panel session during ARBS 2026 on Thursday, May 7, to discuss the newly revised Flammable Refrigerants Safety Guide.

Flammable refrigerants are becoming increasingly common as the HVAC&R industry transitions to lower-GWP alternatives. However, many technicians were never trained to handle these refrigerants.
The free panel session, titled “Clear and present danger – Are you up-to-date on flammable refrigerants?”, will be held during ARBS on Thursday, May 7 from 10–10.45am, and aims to close this knowledge gap.
AIRAH’s Advocacy and Policy Manager, Mark Vender, will be one of the speakers. He believes safe refrigerant management across the entire lifecycle – from installation through to recovery and destruction – is essential.
“We’ve revised the guide in conjunction with the ARBS Foundation, Refrigerant Reclaim Australia and Refrigerants Australia to give technicians and business owners clear pathways to build the knowledge and skills needed to work safely with flammable refrigerants,” says Vender.
Other speakers at the session will include Simon Bradwell, M.AIRAH, ARBS Foundation and ebm-papst A&NZ (moderator); Kylie Farrelley, Refrigerant Reclaim Australia; and Greg Picker, Refrigerants Australia.
The session will include a brief demonstration of the guide and associated training resources.
Registration is open here.
The Flammable Refrigerants Safety Guide update project is supported by the ARBS Foundation, an ARBS organisation dedicated to funding research and education initiatives that advance learning and understanding across Australia’s HVAC&R and building services industries.
