The Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program is proposing a new energy efficiency activity which provides financial incentives for businesses wishing to install an efficient heat pump water heater (HPWH).
The proposed activity has been developed collaboratively by the VEU team and the Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) team in New South Wales with a view to harmonising activity requirements and making compliance simpler.
The government is seeking feedback on options to introduce the installation of an efficient HPWH at commercial and industrial premises or in the common area of a multi-residential building as an activity in the VEU program.
A consultation paper has been prepared on the proposed activity, including questions on which the government is seeking feedback. The questions include:
- Whether there are potential barriers or undesired outcomes due to the proposed activity
- Whether or not demand response capability should be required
- Whether equipment that uses lower global warming potential refrigerants should receive greater incentive.
The consultation paper is available at the HPWH consultation page on the Engage Victoria website.
Submissions must be received by July 12, 2021.
