Madison has acquired the ebm-papst business to further expand complementary product offerings across technology, geographies and operations. The three families who have owned the ebm-papst business transferred their shares in August, with final regulatory approvals still pending.
Madison Air is a provider of highly engineered air quality solutions for mission-critical environments such as healthcare, advanced manufacturing, cleanrooms and data centres. It also provides products for residential settings, with brands including Big Ass Fans.
Headquartered in Mulfingen, Germany, ebm‑papst specialises in ventilation and motor technology, and is known for its R&D and engineering expertise.
“We have been industrial owners for over three decades and know what makes a truly great company. ebm‑papst is unquestionably one of them. The culture and heritage built by the owner families in Mulfingen and beyond are among the Group’s greatest strengths, and we will preserve both,” says Larry Gies, Chairman of the Board and Founder of Madison Air.
“Demand for high-quality cooling technology is growing rapidly worldwide, and ebm‑papst has the expertise and capabilities the market needs today. The two companies complement each other ideally in terms of their regional strengths: ebm‑papst with its position in Europe and attractive business in Asia, and we with our presence in North America. We look forward to growing together with the ebm‑papst management team – for the benefit of the employees and the Group as a whole.”
ebm-papst CEO Dr. Klaus Geißdörfer says Madison will give the company better access to the U.S. market.
“ebm‑papst is in a stronger position today than ever before. Thanks to our strategic direction, we are on a clear growth path. Our innovative core Air Technology business is growing strongly, and our data centre business is developing exceptionally well,” he says.
“The Group still has significant potential for further development, and with Madison we have found a partner that understands exactly what defines ebm‑papst and what we need to further expand our market leadership.”
