The Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) is holding its annual conference and awards event from 16–18 October in Sydney.

International speakers from some of the world’s largest infrastructure projects will share their knowledge and experiences. The line-up includes United Nations of Australia President Michael G Smith, Crossrail Sustainability Manager Rob Paris, TransPod Hyperloop CEO and co-founder Sebastien Gendron, Arrilla Indigenous Consulting CEO Shelley Reys, SIMEC Zen Energy CEO Marc Barrington, and Kimberly-Clark’s Jacquie Fegent-McGeachie.

Panel discussions will explore themes such as carbon neutrality, the circular economy, resilience, innovation and green infrastructure. And there will be a site visit on the final day of the conference.

Coinciding with the conference, the Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) Awards will be held on the evening of October 17. Now into its fifth year, the awards celebrate the contribution of industry to sustainable infrastructure. Comedian and actor Dilruk Jayasinha will host the three-course gala dinner, which will be attended by up to 300 industry stakeholders.

“The conference is a great opportunity to learn and grow,” says ISCA CEO Ainsley Simpson. “Usually we focus only on the infrastructure sector, but this year we’re taking a different approach and we’re extending our reach to other sectors and industries so that we can take an outside-in approach at what innovations and impacts might be relevant for our sector.”

The conference is aimed at all infrastructure stakeholders across the public and private sector: engineers, project managers, designers, sustainability personnel and executives.
