The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) has confirmed the preview and adoption dates for NCC 2022, and has scheduled a series of seminars around the country to present the key changes.
As previously reported, the adoption of NCC 2022 has been delayed until later this year due to the disruptions to industry caused by the pandemic. The date has now been confirmed as September 1, 2022. A preview will be available from May 9 at ncc.abcb.gov.au.
The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) says it hopes the delayed adoption date will make it easier for industry to adjust.
“The extended preview period [will] provide time for users to become familiar with the changes before NCC 2022 is made mandatory under state and territory legislation,” it says.
The May preview of NCC 2022 will not include the energy efficiency and condensation amendments, as these have not yet been endorsed by building ministers. However, practitioners will still see a preview of the amendments prior to adoption.
The ABCB is also offering a variety of face-to-face and virtual seminars about the key changes for NCC 2022 Volumes One and Two. Registrations will open from April for the events, which will be held around Australia from July:
- Canberra – July 20
- Melbourne – July 26–27
- Hobart – July 28
- Brisbane – August 2–3
- Darwin – August 4
- Sydney – August 9–10
- Webinar – August 16
- Adelaide – August 23
- Perth – August 25
