Pitch in – IBF26 call for abstracts

After the success of the inaugural Intelligent Buildings Workshop in 2025, IBF26 is now calling for expertise and insight from across the property, engineering, technology and analytics sectors.

Everyone’s talking about AI, but how is it really going to benefit the designers, owners, occupants and operators of buildings? This is one of the big questions the Intelligent Buildings Forum 2026 (IBF26) aims to explore.

Co-hosted by AIRAH, CSIRO, CIBSE, and Arup, IBF26 builds on the success of last year’s inaugural Intelligent Buildings Workshop held in Sydney. This year’s event will be on Thursday, November 19, 2026, at the Melbourne ICC, and is happening alongside the Decarbonising Buildings International (DBI) conference.

Abstracts are being invited for presentations and discussions across three key topic areas relating to AI, data, intelligent buildings solutions and technology – NOW, NEW and NEXT.

The organising committee, which includes representatives from CSIRO, CIBSE, AIRAH and Arup, is looking for presentations that push boundaries across areas such as:

  • Smart and integrated building systems
  • Digital transformation and data-driven design
  • Energy efficiency and sustainability outcomes
  • Building performance optimisation
  • Emerging technologies and future trends.

“IBF26 is set to be a forward-focused gathering that showcases the latest thinking in intelligent building design and operation. Delegates can look forward to fresh perspectives, practical case studies, and strong industry collaboration, all aimed at driving real-world improvements in how buildings are designed, managed, and experienced,” says Marie Karekla, AIRAH Head of Conference, Events and Business Development.

It is an opportunity for industry leaders, engineers, consultants, inventors and innovators to challenge business as usual, expand thinking, showcase pilots and illuminate the emerging future of smart, connected, efficient places, spaces and facilities.

Submissions close June 30 – read the guidelines and submit your abstract here.
