Mould buster Terry Brennan visits Australia

One of the world’s leading experts on dampness and health in buildings, Terry Brennan, will be in Australia this month.

The visit comes at a time of heightened interest in mould and moisture in buildings and the underlying building science. A recent parliamentary inquiry highlighted the link between biotoxin-related illnesses and mould. It also called for stricter building codes to better control moisture in buildings.

Brennan will explore these issues when he talks at Condensation, Moisture and Mould in Buildings – Introduction to Solutions Seminar on Tuesday, November 20 at the University of NSW. The workshop is presented by the Building Designers Association of Australia (BDAA) and AIRAH.

He is a lead author of a landmark 2013 Environmental Protection Agency book titled Moisture Control for Building Design, Construction and Maintenance, which has since become a standard reference document for the building industry in the US.

“He has spent the last 43 years crawling through small spaces in problem buildings, making the acquaintance of more rodents, insects and fungi than most people would find pleasurable. Most importantly, Terry is a very entertaining presenter.
