Female leaders from Aurecon and the Australian Defence Force will share their success strategies in an event to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8.

As in previous years, IWD 2021 will be marked by global events that bring attention to the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The occasion will also be used as a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

This year’s campaign theme is “Choose To Challenge”. One of the many events built around this theme is a free online webinar organised by the Governance Institute of Australia to be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.

Titled “Choosing challenge to spark change: Leaders in defence and engineering share their success strategies”, the webinar offers an opportunity to hear from leaders who have chosen to challenge – with significant success.

The leadership talks will feature high-level personnel from global engineering, design and advisory firm Aurecon, and the Australian Defence Force.

The seminar will be chaired by Megan Motto, Chief Executive of the Governance Institute of Australia. Speakers include Louise Adams, Chief Executive, Australia & New Zealand, Aurecon; and Major General Susan Coyle CSC DSM, Head Information Warfare, Joint Capabilities Group, Australian Defence Force.

Adams is responsible for leading approximately 4,000 people, together with the financial and operational performance, to meet Aurecon’s strategic and operational business goals.

Major General Coyle has worked at the tactical, operational and strategic level in a variety of command and staff appointments, commanding at every rank, including Commander Joint Task Force 633 (2020). She commenced as Head Information Warfare in January this year.

They will be sharing on how to:

  • Lead through challenging times
  • Implement strategies that enable cultural shifts, organisational resilience and growth in a challenging business environment
  • Be an engaged leader, empowering your organisation to also challenge for change.

The virtual program is targeted at board members, CEOs, executives and anyone with governance and risk management responsibilities from all sectors and industries.
