ARBS extends online Seminar Series

ARBS Seminar Series online has revealed its line-up of sessions for 2021. The schedule brings together some of Australia’s leading experts to present the latest trends, innovations, scientific research and technologies relevant to the HVAC&R and building service industry.

Cold Hard Facts | Michael McCann, Expert Group | February 16, 1pm

Now employing 14 years of data in the stock model of installed equipment, the 2020 edition of Cold Hard Facts reveals rates of change in adoption of new refrigerants and highlights trend in forecasts of demand for HFCs.

This free session is aimed at HVAC&R industry groups, industry associations, government and policy-makers.

Energy Efficiency Analysis of Alternative Arrangements of Variable Air Volume and Chilled Beam HVAC Systems | Ashak Nathwani, University of Sydney and PC Thomas, Team Catalyst | February 18, 1pm

HVAC&R systems are responsible for around 65 per cent of the base building energy consumption and the built environment contributes around 40 per cent to greenhouse emissions. Selecting the most energy-efficient HVAC system is therefore vitally important.

This free session is aimed at engineers, facility managers and technical staff engaged in HVAC design, specification, construction, commissioning and monitoring.

The Secret Legal Life of Australian Standards in the HVAC&R Industry – Do I Need to Comply With AS/NZS 5149? | Raphael Brown, Clearscope Legal | February 23, 1pm

This seminar aims to “demystify” the AS/NZS 5149 series of Australian Standards and explain the legal implications of the new standards for businesses and their operations.

The session is aimed at engineers, technicians or contractors involved in legal compliance; OEMs and equipment suppliers.

The Future of NABERS Energy | Corine Mulet, NABERS | February 25, 1pm

Over the past 20 years, NABERS has achieved world leading results – including a 40 per cent drop in energy use for buildings that have participated in the program over 10 years. The Future of NABERS Energy project is looking at how NABERS will adapt to achieve the same results over the next 20. In this presentation NABERS will speak about the findings of the project to date, proposed solutions, impacts to ratings, future plans and how participants can input into the project.

This session is aimed at architects/designers, engineers, consultants, construction and project managers, government, and property owners.

In-Building Cellular Connectivity and the Impact of 5G | Alex Fuerschke, Dexus | March 2, 1pm

This session forms part of the IBTech@ARBS series, which explores cutting-edge intelligent building technologies and solutions. The presenter notes that connectivity should be a key element of a smart building, yet good in-building cellular (mobile) coverage seems to elude many projects, buildings, and occupants. The seminar will look at how to get it right and the likely impact of 5G.

This seminar is aimed at consultants, contractors, and facility and property managers.

Digital Facilities Management: How to Increase Profitability Using Building Data | Shane McIntosh, Switch Automation | March 4, 1pm

The final session in the IBTech@ARBS series explores the Internet of Things explosion. It will discuss how to choose the right technologies for business needs; how to advance your career and company by monetising the wealth of data that buildings generate; how to implement Digital Facilities Management to increase profitability and capture actionable insights that foster tenant satisfaction, building health, energy efficiency, maintenance savings, increased valuation and streamlined operations.
