Since the recent approval of ASHRAE Standard 241 Control of Infectious Aerosols, international interest has grown in how the standard could be applied. That includes Australia.
Responding to this interest, Prezant Environmental Managing Director and 241 Committee member Brad Prezant, Affil.AIRAH, is running two breakfast sessions in Melbourne to provide an introduction to and summary of the new standard.
“ASHRAE 241, the first-ever pathogen mitigation standard, establishes minimum requirements for air cleaning for public buildings, residences, and health care. It provides a framework to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19, influenza, etc. during periods of high risk,” says Prezant.
“It establishes for each building type and occupancy type an effective clean air delivery rate as part of an infection reduction mitigation mode (IRMM), which combines outdoor ventilation, air cleaning, and filtration.
“The session will look at how to implement a building readiness plan (BRP), use the calculator to combine various cleaning modes to determine the overall clean air delivery rate, and the operations and maintenance requirements in IRMM to meet the standard.
“Attendees will be able to determine if ASHRAE 241 can feasibly be implemented for their facility, and the tasks required.”
The sessions will run on July 20 and 24, from 7-8am, in Prahan, Melbourne.
