In response to industry feedback following the commencement of National Construction Code (NCC) energy-efficiency requirements for commercial buildings in the Northern Territory on October 1, 2023, minor amendments have been made to Building Note 113.
According to the NT government, the purpose of the changes is to clarify that whilst the NT has adopted variations to current NCC requirements, these variations do not prevent the application of more recently published provisions of the NCC if desired.
For example, requirements from NCC 2022 Section J can be incorporated into new building designs instead of provisions of NCC 2019 Section J as currently adopted by NT NCC variations.
Building notes can be accessed online at the NT government website.
