NABERS is seeking industry involvement to expand its rating system into warehouses and cold stores.

A national initiative, NABERS has enjoyed great success as a world-recognised and robust rating tool for offices, shopping centres, hotels, and other building sectors. This year it is expanding to the warehouses and cold stores sector and is looking to involve the industry’s key stakeholders from the early stages of the project.

Part of the NABERS Accelerate program, the work is an important step in helping organisations in the logistics industry understand how their built assets perform and the opportunities that exist to reduce ongoing costs through improved operations. It will also help the industry contribute to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impact.

The first stage of the project is to collect data about onsite characteristics and annual energy and water use for technical benchmarking. Some stakeholders have already been contacted by representatives of NABERS via email and invited to participate in the benchmarking work. The project team is now reaching out to organisations to follow up on the initial enquiries and provide further opportunity to discuss the NABERS expansion in warehouses and cold stores.

The project team, which includes Global IQ and Delta Q, is seeking data from sites of different scales and operations, including dry stores, cool and cold stores, across climate zones and states, to create benchmark values for the NABERS rating.

To discuss further how the team can work with you and what it means for the industry, please contact Nathan Groenhout, F.AIRAH: [email protected] or 0407 944 874.
