Updated guide on condensation management

The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) has released an updated condensation management guide that explains the new provisions in the 2022 version of the National Construction Code (NCC 2022).

NCC 2022 will be adopted by states and territories on May 1, 2023, with some requirements – including those relating to condensation management – commencing on October 1, 2023.

Incoming changes include new verification methods for condensation management and building envelope sealing, as well as deemed-to-satisfy (DTS) provisions for wall construction, exhaust systems and roof ventilation. More information is available at the ABCB website.

The updated Condensation in Buildings Handbook introduces the concept of condensation, its causes, and the consequences if it is left unchecked. It expands on the regulatory requirements of the NCC with non-mandatory guidance for designers, builders and occupants on other potential strategies to consider.
