The path ahead for the VEU – industry webinars

Solar Victoria is running a series of industry webinars to provide an update on the VEU strategic review, including reporting key findings and laying out next steps.

The Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program is the Victorian government’s flagship energy savings and emissions reduction program. It promotes energy-efficiency upgrades in residential, business and industrial premises and supports the decarbonisation of the built environment, as plotted out in the Gas Substitution Roadmap.

According to the VEU, since it began in 2009, more than 2.4 million households and businesses have taken advantage of the program. In 2024, over 488,000 households and 22,000 businesses received discounted energy-efficient upgrades, cutting Victoria’s emissions by 4.9 million tonnes over the year.

The program is now undergoing a strategic review to ensure it remains fit for purpose and fully supports the government’s policy objectives on electrification, energy affordability, emissions reduction targets, and reliability.

Based on engagement with key stakeholders and a public consultation held last year, the government has proposed changes to the VEU program. These will be covered in the webinars, as well as the next steps in the review process.

The webinars are aimed at consumers, advocates, industry bodies, accredited persons, authorised providers, retailers, and industry participants, including manufacturers and installers. They will be held on March 4, March 19 and April 21.

Please note that the content covered in the first session will be repeated in the other sessions – there is no need to attend all the sessions.

More information on the VEU strategic review is available at the VEU website.
