The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is expanding its program TechEmerge to Latin America. The TechEmerge Sustainable Cooling program is offering the innovators working on sustainable cooling technologies, products and services an opportunity to enter the growing market of Latin America.

The program will match the innovators with companies and municipalities to conduct pilot projects and build commercial partnerships. More than 30 companies and municipalities have already signed up.

The people and companies selected will will receive funding and support to pilot cost-effective and efficient solutions in the Mexican and Colombian markets.

The region presents the world’s second largest climate-smart investment potential, estimated to be worth up to US$5.7 trillion by 2030. Demand for cooling is expected to triple in the next 30 years.

Priority will go to proven products installed in at least one commercial setting. However, innovations at the product development stage in a wide range of sectors will also be considered, including:

  • Temperature-controlled logistics
  • Commercial/residential buildings
  • Supermarkets/retail
  • Scalable small and medium enterprises (SME) solutions
  • Training and capacity building.
