Norman Disney & Young (NDY) founder David Norman passed away recently, aged 90.
“David Norman, founder of Norman Disney & Young, was a pioneer of the engineering consultancy industry in Australia,” says NDY.
“With a focus on service and communication, as well as innovative results, his methods proved well ahead of their time, and paved the way for NDY to prosper, and spread this approach across the globe.”
NDY CEO Stuart Fowler, M.AIRAH, says Norman was more than a very capable engineer.
“So very saddened to hear of the passing … of Norman Disney & Young founder, H. David Norman, aged 90,” says Fowler. “David Norman was an outstanding engineer, and a sharp, astute businessman. A true entrepreneur, David commenced what would ultimately become NDY in 1959, in Sydney, Australia.
“He worked and grew his start-up into a multi-national, multi-disciplined engineering consultancy, employing hundreds of people, at the same time influencing the direction of building services design and construction on numerous notable buildings throughout Australia, New Zealand and beyond.
“Everyone who has worked at, or with, Norman Disney & Young since, owes David Norman a debt of gratitude for all that he achieved, and the opportunities his efforts have provided.
“On behalf of all of the current staff and Directors at Norman Disney & Young, I extend my deepest sympathies and condolences to David’s extended family. An engineering legend, our company founder, has left us. He will be very sadly missed. Vale, David Norman.”
