NABERS publishes 2024 Sustainable Portfolios Index

NABERS has released the 2024 iteration of its Sustainable Portfolios Index (SPI), which measures whole-of-portfolio performance.

NABERS has released the 2024 iteration of its Sustainable Portfolios Index (SPI), which offers a whole-of-portfolio view of actual performance across energy efficiency, water efficiency, waste management, indoor environment quality and carbon neutrality.

Now in its sixth year, the SPI includes 60 office and shopping centre portfolios, as well as covering public hospitals for the first time, with 133 Victoria Health assets included. 

Walking it in

The 2024 SPI Office Energy Index includes 417 assets, representing close to 7.4 million m2 of area or 24 per cent of the total national office market. Walker Corporation’s Parramatta Square achieved the highest result of 5.8 stars.

Other highlights of the 2024 SPI

  • The SPI Office Energy Index includes 417 assets, measuring close to a quarter of the total national office market. 
  • Five new office portfolios have listed their indoor environment rating, an increase of 10 per cent since last year. 
  • The Office Waste Index has grown by 25 per cent, with three new funds listed. 
  • Three portfolios achieved a 100 per cent carbon-neutral rating. 
  • Victoria Health has listed 133 public hospitals, representing approximately 2.9 million square metres in area. 
  • This year’s SPI includes enhancements to how dashboards are displayed to improve the user experience.
