Bitzer – Green Point are partnering with RMIT to deliver essential hands-on skills in an advanced CO2 refrigeration and air conditioning training system.

As both system innovation and the HVAC&R regulatory environment rapidly move forward, standard trade certificates haven’t always kept pace with the rate of change. According to Shannon Egan, General Manager at Bitzer – Green Point, this has left a knowledge gap where qualified technicians are missing the key practical skills to confidently install, commission, service and maintain new technology such as transcritical CO2 systems.

“New lower-GWP refrigerants like R744 also pose different opportunities and challenges when it comes to safety and legislation, so it’s important that today’s technicians understand the nuances of working with these new and emerging technologies,” he says.

“Whilst traditional training under a rigid RTO framework has its advantages, Bitzer – Green Point has intentionally chosen a different path, partnering with RMIT to deliver essential hands-on skills in the most advanced CO2 refrigeration and air conditioning training system in the Asia-Pacific region.”

The course content will be continuously adapted in response to market and individual client demand to ensure the content stays relevant.

The CO2 training facilities at RMIT were officially launched in 2023 and aim to give students the opportunity to work hands-on with the latest and most advanced technology available.

In addition to the standard and custom training content currently being offered by Bitzer – Green Point, in 2025 there will be an option for RTO-accredited training.
