James Cook University is hosting a workshop called “Building a Sustainable Future: Regional Approaches to Decarbonisation” on Monday, August 26 in Townsville, Queensland.
The workshop aims to foster collaboration between industry, government, academia and community to drive decarbonisation and achieve net-zero targets from a regional perspective, with a focus on building infrastructure and energy.
The event will highlight innovative approaches and practical solutions tailored to the unique needs of regional cities, particularly the enablers for green building infrastructure such as waste-to-resources, renewable energy, and water. It will include discussions on policy frameworks, technological advancements, the latest research and best practices that can accelerate the transition to net-zero emissions.
Speakers include Professor Tuan Ngo from the University of Melbourne, Cr Paul Jacob from Townsville City Council, national sustainability manager at Holcim Australia, Evan Smith, and Professor Jamshid Aghaei of CQUniversity.
