NABERS is seeking feedback on its embodied emissions discussion paper, and has scheduled a webinar as a key part of the process.

“We know that Australia currently has no consistent method of measurement for embodied emissions,” says NABERS.

“Over the past 12 months, NABERS has worked in partnership with the GBCA and collaborated with industry and governments across Australia to understand the appetite for a standard for embodied emissions and the role of NABERS in administering that standard.

“The feedback from industry told us that NABERS has a clear role to play in accelerating efforts to reduce embodied emissions in Australia’s commercial building stock. We have published a consultation paper containing 10 proposals for feedback.”

The webinar will explain the proposal in more detail, including the scope of the tool, the calculation method, benchmarking, the certification process, and plans for future development.

Speakers confirmed for the event are:

  • Carlos Flores, M.AIRAH – Director, NABERS
  • Ivana Brown – Sector Lead, Accelerating Net Zero Buildings, NABERS
  • Jorge Chapa – Chief Impact Officer, Market Transformation, GBCA.

The webinar is free to attend and will be held on Tuesday, January 31, from 12.30–1.30pm (AEDT).
