The 2022 Energy Efficiency Summit will take place on October 6, marking the eve of the Federal Budget announcement by drawing together government, global experts, prominent consumer advocates and large industry associations.

Summit organisers say the event will facilitate an “economy-wide discussion” on Australia’s opportunities and challenges, and the role of energy efficiency in addressing them.

Held in person in Sydney, the event will be delivered as a national online live-stream, with web participants invited to pose live questions to speakers and panellists.

Keynote speakers include Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy Jenny McAllister, and California Energy Commissioner Andrew McAllister.

Jenny McAllister is responsible for guiding the Albanese Government’s energy-efficiency policy, while Andrew McAllister is recognised as a global leader in clean energy policy development and implementation. According to organisers, both speakers will provide an expert global context, with federal and international perspectives.

The keynotes will be followed by an energy-efficiency leadership panel featuring Summit convenors Innes Willox (Ai Group), Edwina MacDonald (Australian Council of Social Service), Luke Menzel (Energy Efficiency Council) and Ken Morrison (Property Council of Australia).

There will also be dedicated breakout sessions with Australian experts, discussing how to scale up ambition and action on energy efficiency in commercial buildings, residential buildings and industry.

Organisers say the half-day event aims to elevate the crucial role of energy efficiency in Australia’s transition to a net zero economy.

The Summit will be held on Thursday, October 6, 12.30–5pm, with registrations free but essential (to be completed by September 29).
