ISCA annual conference and awards

The Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) is holding its annual conference and awards in Melbourne from October 15–17.

ISCA is a member-based, not-for-profit peak body operating in Australia and New Zealand with the purpose of enabling sustainability outcomes in infrastructure.

Its annual conference, #ISCACONNECT, is aimed at sustainability managers, engineers, consultants, project teams, government, planners, designers, educators and students. ISCA has created the space to promote learning, sharing and networking.

The conference features an impressive line-up of speakers.

International keynote Brandi Hudson, from the Independent Maori Statutory Board, will talk about integrating Indigenous values into the built environment to show respect and regard for the first peoples of the land. Local keynote Richard Boele, from KPMG Australia, will look at how strategic social risks are for infrastructure.

Other speakers include Bob Gordon (Nando’s), Elke Lindner (Toyota), Alessia Verderio (The Iconic) and Dr Kate Ringvall (IKEA). Sessions will focus on topics such as the future of transport, social sustainability, the circular economy, carbon neutrality, implementing new materials in infrastructure projects, and regional investment in communities. There will also be networking drinks.

The ISCA Awards Gala Dinner takes place at the end of the conference, on October 17. This black-tie event celebrates the people, projects, and organisations leading in infrastructure sustainability.

Awards will be announced for Individual Leadership, Emerging Young Leadership, Innovation and Impact, Organisational Leadership, Outstanding Achievement (Design) and Outstanding Achievement (As Built). Certificates will also be presented to projects that have achieved an IS rating.
