Infection transmission through air

The Indoor Air Quality Association Australia (IAQAA) is holding an online “Lunch and Learn” session about airborne disease transmission on Tuesday, August 3.

Dr Jayne Morrow, former executive director of the US Science and Technology Council to the Obama administration, and leading microbiologist and molecular biologist, will be taking the session.

She will discuss how the international Integrated Bioscience and Built Environment Consortium (IBEC) is working with IAQAA members to improve air quality in buildings.

The IAQAA says the event is a “truly unique opportunity at a pivotal time in human history”.

In response to the pandemic, Morrow formed the not-for-profit organisation IBEC and hosted the global CLEAN2020 Summit, to identify knowledge and opportunities to control viral transmission in the built environment.

Morrow has worked across federal agencies, industry and academia, and has assessed data and research needs to enable confident decision-making founded on scientific evidence for response to Anthrax, Ebola and SARS-CoV-2.

Her efforts are ongoing to help translate research, standards and guidance on air quality into practice.
