The Portuguese Association of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (EFRIARC) has announced that its 21st Seminar would be held in November and December 2020.
The first part of the seminar will be a free webinar held on November 26, at 3pm (GMT), 2am (NSW, Vic, ACT, Tas), 1.30am (SA), 1am (Qld), 12.30am (NT) and 11pm (WA).
It will consist of an online forum focused on the management of the transmission of COVID-19 with regard to the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems in buildings, and also emerging trends resulting from the pandemic.
“The pandemic we are experiencing has globally disrupted daily life and economic activity in a way that we all thought impossible to happen. For most of the world, the experience of an epidemic has not occurred for several generations and society in general, and the HVAC sector in particular, was not prepared to respond quickly and effectively,” says EFRIARC.
“We also believe that the experience of this pandemic will certainly bring changes to the way we design and use buildings and operate their HVAC systems. The purpose of this forum is to exchange experiences and knowledge on how to deal with the pandemic and share ideas about the consequences that it may bring to the future of our sector.”
Professor at the Coimbra University, Manuel Gameiro, will be presenting the first session on an analysis of the transmission modes of COVID-19.
Attendees will also be hearing from experts from global organisations, sharing their experience and vision dealing with the pandemic in their own regions.
The presenters include: ASHRAE Epidemic Task Force Chair, Bill Bahnfieth; REHVA Technology and Research Committee, Chair, Jarek Kurnitski; ABRAVA consultant Oswaldo Bueno; and JSRAE former President, Noboru Kagawa.
They will be covering the topic from the regional perspectives of North America, Europe, South America and Japan.
