The Australasian Indoor Building Management Symposium is being held from September 22–23 in Mackay, Queensland. The Symposium will take place as part of the Coach8 Spring Break festival.
Hosted by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC), it will offer an opportunity to hear from top instructors in the restoration industry. The event promises to provide hands-on learning for restoration equipment, tools, occupational hygiene, asbestos management, indoor air quality, building insulation, disinfection and cleaning products.
Some of the speakers include:
- Keynote Dr Gavin Macgregor-Skinner, Senior Director of the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC)
- Jason Green: Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH)
- Jeremy Stamkos, M.AIRAH; Managing Director and Principal Consultant of Restoration Industry Consultants
- Dr Greg Whiteley, Adjunct Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney
- Dr Melissa Marot, clinical neuropsychologist and organisational psychologist
- Brad Prezant, Affil.AIRAH, public health and occupational health scientist
- Tim Law, architectural scientist, building surveying lecturer and course chair of the Building Surveying programs at Victoria University.
The Symposium will also feature a variety of workshops, including:
- From black swans to boiling frogs: How to understand risk, visualise risk scenarios, and get ahead of the competition – a GBAC risk-management approach workshop
- Hit or miss? A demonstration in complexities and limitations associated with post-remediation microbial sampling
- Introduction to selecting respiratory protection
- Asbestos awareness.
