AIRAH updates 2021 conference schedule

Continuing precautions and restrictions around COVID-19 have led to AIRAH adjusting its 2021 conference schedule.

Still slated for Sydney, AIRAH’s The Future of HVAC Conference 2021 will be moved from its originally scheduled dates of September 8–9 to November 29–30. It will also be live-streamed.

AIRAH’s Building Physics Forum, originally scheduled to be held in Brisbane, will now be held as a live-streamed virtual event on October 12.

“In 2020, AIRAH learned quickly how to adapt to the shifting circumstances COVID-19 and the resultant lockdowns caused,” says AIRAH CEO Tony Gleeson, M.AIRAH. “In the midst of unprecedented disruption, we improvised and adapted by changing dates and shifting events online. In this way we were able to preserve some sense of normalcy and continuance amid radically altered circumstances. So, we have developed procedures and processes to get the best out of our live, hybrid and live-streamed events.”

The Future of HVAC’s 2021 program will be split across five key themes: innovation and disruption; climate change – sustainability, adaptation, and resilience; regulation and legislation; indoor environment, including COVID-19 impacts; and the future of construction and building services integration.

Presentation highlights include: Psychrometry in the 21st century; Circular economy and HVAC&R; A case study on Assisi Catholic College; The electricity market – Friend or foe?; and Mixed-mode ventilation: The future for Australian commercial buildings?

AIRAH’s Building Physics Forum 2021 will be live-streamed on Tuesday, October 12. Bringing together leading industry experts from across the built environment, the Building Physics Forum represents a key forum in AIRAH’s suite of technically focused events. Presentations, case studies, and panel sessions will form the backbone of the forum.

As an applied science, building physics addresses several different areas in constructed performance. This includes a building’s air movement, thermal performance, control of moisture, sensible and latent energy, acoustic performance, light, solar control, climate, and biology.
