AIRAH Awards 2024: NRG Services wins Best Retrofit

NRG Services has won the 2024 AIRAH Award for Best HVAC Retrofit or Upgrade for its work on Goondiwindi Hospital.

NRG, as the principal contractor for Darling Downs Health, led a highly critical and complex project that upgraded the hospital’s HVAC systems and medical gas infrastructure. This project, carried out in a live hospital environment, involved the staged demolition and replacement of end-of-life systems, including AHUs, BMS, chilled water loops, and medical gas infrastructure, all while ensuring uninterrupted hospital operations.

NRG implemented a four-pipe heating/cooling system, new BMS, and isolation room, while managing air distribution, ceiling insulation, and a full mechanical electrical upgrade, including MSSBs and submains. With precise staging, temporary services, and back feeds, NRG ensured 100 per cent uptime throughout the project, safeguarding patient care and hospital functionality.
