Victoria’s 3CA Grants program

Applications are open for Victoria’s Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) Community Climate Change Adaptation (3CA) Grants program.

The 3CA Grants program is designed to help local Victorian communities adapt to climate change impacts in their region. It is part of the Victorian Government’s Supporting our Regions to Adapt initiative, a three-year program providing practical assistance for communities to prepare for the challenges of a changing climate. It supports outcomes from Victoria’s Climate Change Adaptation Plan 2017–2020.

The 3CA Grants program will:

• Identify and support practical projects focused on adaptation activities with clear community benefit
• Foster partnerships between communities, local governments and regional stakeholders on adaptation
• Generate and share lessons on good practice approaches to community adaptation.

The DELWP says the program has two project categories: Building Adaptive Capacity and Delivering Adaptation Action.

The former will aim to build the capacity of communities or regions to better plan for, coordinate and deliver actions that support communities to adapt to current or future climate change impacts.

The latter will implement practical actions to support communities and regions to adapt to current or future climate change impacts.

Eligible projects must work with a local council, traditional owner corporation, community group or not-for-profit organisation.

Applications for the 3CA Grants program are due by March 31, 2019.

Grants between $25,000 and $75,000 will be awarded, with a total available funding of $1,000,000 available for the program. Projects must be completed by December 31, 2020.
