The International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) has published a new informatory note outlining the requirements and options available for low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants.
The refrigerants were selected according to performance, material compatibility, safety (flammability, toxicity), environmental protection and their cost.
The note presents performance simulation results obtained using an advanced simulation model with the latest known refrigerant properties.
It also offers recommendations in terms of refrigerant selection criteria, research to be carried out, and training of personnel in handling flammable refrigerants.
Finally, the methods for estimating the performance of refrigerants as well as the discussed refrigerant blends and their compositions are detailed in two annexes.
The informatory note, prepared by Piotr A Domanski and Samuel F Yana Motta, is free for IIR members and costs €20 (AU$30) for non-members. It is available on the IIR website.
