Standards Australia has appointed Rod Balding as its new CEO. Balding has an extensive background in the finance, commercial, and risk management sectors, and has a strong commitment to the not-for-profit sector through his experience with the International Basketball Federation, the Women’s Basketball World Cup, the Australian Sports Foundation, and Basketball Australia.
Chair of the Standards Australia Board, Tracey Gramlick, says Balding has “a wealth of experience and a strong and unique skillset combining deep business and commercial experience across the finance, commercial and risk management sectors”.
“During the CEO selection process, the board meticulously evaluated candidates who could not only fulfil our commitments to members, stakeholders, and the community, but who would also harmonise with the incredible efforts each [sector] contributes towards realising our vision and mission,” she says.
They believe Balding will be a leader of genuine character with a social purpose that resonates with the values at Standards Australia.
Balding says he is incredibly excited and honoured to be joining the team at Standards Australia.
“I am looking forward to working with the board and all our stakeholders to build upon the long and proud history of the organisation and ensure that our standards continue to meet the evolving needs of our diverse community and industries,” he says.
Balding’s official announcement will take place at the Standards Australia annual general meeting on November 29, 2024. A commencement date will be confirmed in due course.
