NABERS releases new prediction tools
NABERS has announced the release of its new prediction tools, which factor in the upcoming 2025 benchmark.

NABERS says the tools are designed to help professionals understand the impact of the upcoming 2025 benchmark update and the potential changes for 2030.
The new version is available for applications including office buildings (all scopes), shopping centres, hotels, apartment buildings, and residential aged care and retirement living facilities.
The tools allow users to:
- Compare results from before the benchmark updates
- View a rating progress metric for all results.
You can review the updated prediction tools via the NABERS website.
Background
From July 1, 2025, NABERS energy tools will be updated to consider the latest emissions factors. This marks the second scheduled update following the initial revision in July 2021, with updates planned every five years. A third update is scheduled for 2030, and NABERS is currently consulting on its implementation.
NABERS says this ensures its ratings reflect the decreasing carbon intensity of all-electric technologies as the electricity grid decarbonises. Buildings using all-electric technologies will see a growing benefit in their NABERS energy results over time.
According to NABERS, this is likely to have a particularly fast impact on new building design, where teams are selecting HVAC technologies that will have ongoing implications for NABERS rating results, as the emissions factors will be updated every five years.
