International engineering firm Aurecon has welcomed former AIRAH president Sean Treweek, F.AIRAH, as its Queensland managing director. Treweek’s role will involve driving business performance and strengthening Aurecon’s market leadership as the state prepares for a population and infrastructure boom over the coming decades.
Managing a 1,000-strong workface across eight offices in Queensland, Treweek will oversee business imperatives ranging from overarching strategy and financial management to project delivery and client engagement, governance and general management. Treweek is also a member of Aurecon’s Australian executive leadership team.
“Queensland is in the middle of its biggest build in history, with a population set to exceed six million within two decades,” Treweek says. “This creates a plethora of opportunities for engineers, designers and advisors in the fields of social and transport infrastructure, energy transition, and regional community development, not to mention infrastructure for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
Treweek has more than 15 years’ experience in executive leadership across engineering and professional services, specialising in technical project management, business strategy and leadership, and change and operational management, including complex stakeholder engagement.
“Client centricity and people-focused leadership are part of my DNA,” he says. “I look forward to forging a pathway for our talented people to connect with value-aligned clients and deliver great projects.”
A chartered engineer, Treweek holds a Bachelor of Engineering, and Masters of Design Science, Business Management and Commercial Law. He has held a range of leadership positions, including Group Director at NDY, Technical Director at Roberts Co, CEO at Meinhardt Group and Principal at WSP.
Treweek was AIRAH president from 2010–13.
