The Cooperative Research Centre for Low Carbon Living (CRCLCL) is holding a series of events across Australia in May and June to celebrate the research it has done with six universities.
The tertiary institutions and the CRCLCL have been working together to develop next-generation, low carbon materials and technologies to help develop sustainable cities.
“It’s time to take our research to a broader audience – we want Australians to see how our research has progressed low-carbon living across all aspects of urban life,” says CRCLCL’s CEO, Professor Deo Prasad.
The Research to Reality Expos will be free to attend, with a focus on low-carbon homes, schools and tourism, urban cooling, renovations vs. rebuilding and renewable energy. The Expos will be hosted by Dr Josh Byrne, CRCLCL Project Leader and host of ABCTV’s Gardening Australia, and will have low-carbon living experts on hand to answer questions.
Prasad says the Centre is focused on mainstreaming its substantial body of research as it approaches the end of its government funding.
“Our research has contributed to changing the way we build our cities and manage them in the face of climate change, increased heatwaves and human demand on energy, waste and water.”
CRCLCL Expo dates
- May 14: NSW – hosted by UNSW Sydney and the University of Wollongong
- May 15: Adelaide – hosted by the University of South Australia
- May 22: Melbourne – hosted by University of Melbourne and Swinburne University of Technology
- June 5: Perth – hosted by Curtin University
The Expos will celebrate and mark the closure of the CRCLCL at the end of June 2019.
